Professional Capacity Development Program
Since its establishment in 1992, the Center has been actively involved in North-South and South-South scientific, technical, and policy development processes and has trained over 610 people across the region. As such, CATHALAC has set up a modern Regional Training Center within its facilities, equipped with twenty (20) high-end work stations, state-of-the-art technology, providing the region the tools for natural resources management and land use planning, as well as geospatial information processing and analysis. These facilities and the ongoing training process, promote institutional strengthening in the region, and reinforce the capacities of technicians, specialists, decision makers, governmental, and non-governmental organizations for achieving sustainable development in the region.
Most of the regional projects developed by CATHALAC have an important component of capacity development which promotes exchanges between people from different countries, their world views and the different ways they each solve their problems. Moreover, the projects´ results are often published and are available in our library.
